Civil Site Design

Project Engineer II to Sr. Engineer – Williamsburg, Richmond and Harrisonburg, Virginia AES Consulting Engineers is seeking a full-time land development Project Engineer. Under the guidance of a Project Manager, the selected candidate will be responsible for planning, design, and plan preparation for land development projects and for tasks including but not limited to E&S plans, utility layout, stormwater management design, site grading, etc.. The candidate will also aid and guide less experienced engineers on the project team. Required: bachelor of science degree in civil engineering or equivalent, 3-7 years of experience in land development, and proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D. Preferred: P.E. license or on that track.

Entry Level Engineer – Chesapeake, Williamsburg, Richmond and Harrisonburg, Virginia   AES Consulting Engineers is seeking a full-time land development Project Engineer. Under the guidance of a Project Manager / Sr. Engineer the selected candidate will be responsible for planning, design, and plan preparation for land development projects. Preferred: BS in civil engineering, 0-3 years experience, and proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D. Candidates that intend on earning P.E. recent or soon-to-be graduates are welcome to apply.

Survey

Survey Manager / L.S. – Richmond and Williamsburg, Virginia   AES Consulting Engineers is seeking a full-time Survey Manager to prepare proposals, communicate with clients, provide site surveying services, manage survey field crews, coordinate contract management, and ensure project profitability. Required: VA Professional Land Surveyor; 5 years experience in land development & public works projects; supporting teams for subdivisions, site plans, rezoning; supervising others; relationships and experience working with local municipalities and approval agencies. Typical services include boundary surveys, topographic surveys, ALTA surveys, boundary line adjustments, construction as-built / stakeout, builder packages, etc. Successful candidate will also be responsible for business development, survey client development, and RFP / competitive bid pursuit / pricing efforts.
Survey Party Chief — Williamsburg, Virginia   AES Consulting Engineers is seeking a full-time Survey Party Chief. Candidates for this position will work under the direction of a Licensed Land Surveyor or Survey Crew Chief, assisting in performing field data collection as well as a wide variety of land surveying activities, utilizing Robotic total stations, GPS and other surveying instruments in an outdoor field setting. Required: Candidate will have 3-5+ years of experience as a Survey Party Chief and must possess a valid Virginia Driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record. Preferred: Candidate will have the ability to work as an in-office survey designer, process field data using AutoCAD Civil 3D, have strong math skills, be reliable, detail-oriented and possess a willingness to team and learn.
Sr. (Survey) Designer I, II or III – Williamsburg and Harrisonburg, Virginia   AES Consulting Engineers is seeking a full-time Surveyor to process field data using AutoCAD Civil 3D; prepare topographic base maps, surface models, plot/development plans, subdivision plats, and record drawings; and perform physical surveys and construction stakeouts. This is mainly an office position but some fieldwork may be required. Required: 3 to 7 years of experience in field surveying (field procedures, survey measurements and field observations, survey instruments, field data collection); experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D. Preferred: Collegiate or technical school training in surveying, LSIT license with intention to earn LS or recently received LS.

Survey Instrument Operator – Williamsburg, Virginia   AES Consulting Engineers is seeking a full-time Survey Instrument Operator. Candidates for this position assist Land Surveyors and Party Chiefs in the application of principles, methods, and techniques of civil engineering and land surveying by participating in field crew operations to provide field data for boundary surveys, topographical and construction stakeout surveys.  Candidate will learn to operate total station, level, GPS and data collectors for use in collection field of survey data.  Must provide clear and concise field notes including sketches and learn daily maintenance and up-keep of instruments.  Required:   The preferred candidate will have previous survey experience and possess a thorough understanding of standard survey procedures and instruments.  Must be able to carry up to 50 lbs. of equipment over all types of terrain.  Candidate must be willing to work year-round, outdoors in all types of weather.  Must possess a valid Virginia Driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.  Salary negotiable.

Internships

Summer Interns — Chesapeake, Williamsburg, Richmond and Harrisonburg, Virginia AES Consulting Engineers is seeking full-time summer interns for all offices to assist project managers with markups to plan sets, base files, etc. including utility layouts, storm system layouts, minor site grading, erosion and sediment control plans, and conceptual site layouts. Interns will get the opportunity to help the survey crew with survey jobs in the field, provide quantity takeoffs / cost estimates for projects, set up plan sets (vicinity maps, cover sheets, plan sheets, etc.), and aid in printing / putting together submittal packages.
